Pumping water from sump pumps into the Town sewer is not permitted. Water from sump pits and seepage should be discharged outside of the home.
Putting excess water into the town sewer system not only overloads our system, it also causes pumps to run more than needed thereby costing taxpayers more money, as well as decreasing the life of our pumps so replacement is more frequent.
Replacement pumps can cost taxpayers anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000. Because of this, the Municipality of Killarney – Turtle Mountain would ask that homeowners using sump pumps not discharge the water into the sewer drain.
