Cultural activities enhance the lives of many Killarney residents. Arts and craft classes are available in a number of creative pursuits, including woodworking, ceramics, scrap booking, sewing and quilting.
The recreation commission, as well as other talented local artisans, offers a variety of craft workshops throughout the year.
Many people take advantage of the resources of the Lakeland Regional Library. An ample and up-to-date book and periodical collection, offers access to the Internet, films, videos, foreign language programs and talking books. It is linked with libraries across the province with the capability to bring in whatever book you're looking for.
The community is especially proud of its school band program where more than 200 students participate in bands, which consistently place at national competitions. Private lessons in piano, violin and other instruments are also available in the community. Killarney also boasts the J.A.V. David Museum.
A visit to the Museum is a trip through time. The new annex features exhibits ranging from natural history, to an art collection and historical displays. For a chance to step back into the past, visit the Heritage House and Heritage Village where our agricultural heritage is on display. New to the village is the Stationary Engine Museum, where a wealth of information on making a living from the land during the last century is available.
