Service for Seniors

We know that growing older doesn’t come with a manual. Later life can bring changes and opportunities to your life and you may need to know about organizations and services which are unfamiliar to you.

That’s why we provide free information and advice to help you on a range of topics.

Killarney is an age friendly community with lots of events and activities available to seniors.

If you are new to the community please give our coordinator a call, she would love to hear from you.  (204) 523-7115

The office is located in the Municipal Office 415 Broadway Ave 2nd floor.

Advisory Board

The 8 Advisory Board members bring their knowledge and expertise to assist the Coordinator in planning and directing the goals of Killarney Services For Seniors. The board members consist of seniors from the community and the board meetings are held bi-monthly September through June. The executive positions are Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. All financial transactions are handled by the Municipality of Killarney Turtle Mountain.

The Services For Seniors Coordinator identifies existing resources, develops new services for seniors and acts as a focal point for access of information and referral.

These services are provided by mobilizing volunteers and fee-for service providers to help seniors maintain independence in the community. If you are looking for something in particular for you or a loved one please don't hesitate to contact us via telephone or email.

More detailed information on services will be updated on an on-going basis.

Killarney - An Age Friendly Community

In age-friendly communities, the policies, services and structures associated with the physical and social environment are planned to help older adults "age actively." Age-friendly communities encourage social engagement. At Killarney Services For Seniors we recognize that more than 90% of older Canadians live independently in their communities and want to remain in them. Everyone benefits from age-friendly communities.

Speak to a doctor today - right from your home!

qdoc.jpg

QDoc is a web-based platform that connects patients and local physicians for virtual appointments in real-time using unique proprietary software.

Using a custom call-out system, numerous physicians are notified of a patient in queue; the first physician to respond is connected with the patient directly via encrypted audio and video.

QDoc is not a replacement for in-person care with your family physician, it is designed to work alongside your primary care provider to make sure that you receive appropriate care when you need it. Reasons to use QDoc include minor illnesses, requests for prescription refills and medical advice when your primary doctor is unavailable.
